I like to create facebook covers that integrates the profile picture into the layout. Due to the fact that the profile picture has to be at least 180x180 and is scaled down, designing this has always been quite tricky because I never really got the images to match.
Now I have created a facebook cover photoshop template and accompanying action to automate this process. Simply create and place your design and run the action and a 240x240 profile picture and 851x315 cover image will be created for you. All you need to do is save those images and upload them to facebook.
To accomplish this, the psd is 150% of the actual cover size. This is necessary to get at least a halfway decent profile picture.
